Line and Boundary Dimensions
The dimensions for sand volleyball courts for players of all ages are the same as those shown in Figure 17.3. Boundary lines are to be marked with 3/16" to 3/8" (.5 cm. to 1 cm.) rope, or with 2" to 3-1/8" (5 cm. to 8 cm.) tape or bands. Line markers are to be a color contrasting to the color of the sand.

The height of the net is 7' 11-5/8" (2.43 m.) for men and 7' 4-1/8" (2.24 m.) for women. In terms of court maintenance, the important point is that the net height is measured at the center. At the sidelines, the net may be no more than ¾" above the regulation height.
This requires posts with sufficient strength and rigidity to hold a line taught. Select posts carefully, remembering that the cost of replacing a set that has failed in use will wipe out any savings realized by using cheaper, flimsier posts when the court is built. Remember that the post must be rounded for the safety of the players.
